ShĂ©yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, also known as 21 Savage, is an America-based rapper. He was born in London but moved to the states at seven with his mom. Born on October 22, 1992, the Georgia-based rapper has over 13 million followers on Instagram and a name that reads ‘Underappreciated.’

21 Savage has a fantastic music career with two studio albums, two collaborative albums, two mixtapes, three extended plays, and thirty singles, making him a household name in America.

Career beginnings

21 Savage began rapping after losing a friend in a gunfight on his 21st birthday.

In 2013, his deceased friend’s uncle began heavily subsidizing his music career by giving him money for studio time. The debut single from 21 Savage, “Picky,” was released on November 12, 2014, with production by DJ Plugg.

According to Interview Magazine, he became an “underground heroin in Atlanta” due to the release.

XXL magazine named 21 Savage to their “Freshman Class” in June 2016. On July 15, 2016, 21 Savage and Atlanta-based song producer Metro Boomin released their collaborative EP Savage Mode.

The E.P. was a worldwide hit, reaching number 23 on the Billboard 200, making it their highest-charting E.P. He got featured on the cover of The Fader in November 2016.

According to Billboard, Savage Mode’s single “X” featuring Future broke the platinum barrier in the U.S., 21’s first platinum record.

Musical Breakthrough

Issa Album, his debut studio album, arrived at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 in 2017. “Bank Account,” the album’s debut track, reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He later collaborated with Offset and Metro Boomin on the album Without Warning (2017), which boomed and was at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song “Ric Flair Drip,” even though it did not feature him.

A collaboration between 21 Savage and Post Malone resulted in the hit single “Rockstar,” which reached number one on the Hot 100. It got nominated for Record of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
