Introduction
American reality TV series Jersey Shore aired on MTV. This first season of this series was telecasted on December 3, 2009.
In total, there are 71 episodes in Jersey Shore from its six seasons. The six seasons ran on MTV between 2009 to 2012.
Cast
The main 8 Participants of the show were Pauly DelVecchio, Micheal Sorrentino, Vinny Guadagnino, Samantha Giancola, Nichole Polizzi, Ronnie-ortiz Magro, Jennifer Farley, Angelina Pivernick and Deena Nichole Cortese.
Angelina Pivernick was the leading participant in the first and second seasons and appeared as a guest in the 5th and 6th seasons. At the same time, Deena Nichole Cortese was the leading participant in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th seasons.
Danny Mark, Jonny Manfre, Brittany Taltos, Jose Parga, Jioni LaVelle, Paula Pickard, and Roger Matthews had guest appearances or were recurring cast members in the show.
Premise
The show revolves around the lives of 8 members living in the Vacation home at Seaside Heights in New Jersey.
In the first, third, fifth, and sixth seasons, the housemates used to live at Seaside Heights in New Jersey. While in the second, they used to live in South Beach in Florida and in Florence in Italy in the fourth season.
The residence had a confession room so that cast members could record their thoughts on the daily happenings in the house.
There were 35 remote-controlled cameras in the house at fixed locations, six DV cameras, one IMX camera, and 12 hand-held cameras.
Making
Anthony Beltempo, the producer of VH1, suggested the idea of creating a competitive television reality show focusing on the lifestyle of guido.
A new concept based on her summers at the Jersey Shore house was devised by SallyAnn Salsano, executive producer of VH1. And the casting director, Doron Ofir, was hired to look for the cast.
But Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks, felt that the series style suited MTV better than VH1. And hence the show aired on MTV.
Reception
The show faced quite a lot of criticism due to the use of the term ‘Guido’. And from the local members as most of the members were from new-york and not New Jersey. And at least two were not even Italian.
The show gained popularity after its initial days, and the finale episode of season 1 was one of the highest-rated television series on MTV for two years.
In 2010, MTV teamed up with Amazon and released Jersey shore on DVD.
In 2011, A show named Snooki and JWoww was started where the life of Jenny and Nicole living together in their own apartment was shown. This show lasted for four seasons before ending in 2015.
Another show with Pauly named The Pauly D Project was started, focusing on Paul’s journey around the world for various DJ projects was also begun. But it was canceled after one season.
Accolades
Jersey Shore was nominated for several awards, including the Astra Award, Peoples choice award, and many more.
The show won the Teen Choice Award in 2011. In comparison, Pauly won the Teen Choice Award in 2011 and 2012.
