In 1995, Lou Perlman met Chris Kirkpatrick and was fascinated by his talent. Pearlman spoke about starting the group and promised to help him financially.

Chris accepted the opportunity and started finding the members for the group.

Chris started to make calls and found out about young male singers for the group, like Justin Timberlake, who had been on the show The Mickey Mouse Club with J.C. chase,

Later on, Timberlake got invited to join the band NSYNC, and Timberlake recommended Chase, so they both became band members.

Later on, they found Joey Fatone and joined him as a band member.
